Dear Hideo Kojima,

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and anger towards the “strand” genre that you introduced in Death Stranding and that I foolishly incorporated into the Avatar franchise. Your so-called “innovative” concept has been nothing but a disaster for my films, and has effectively destroyed the reputation of the Avatar franchise.

When I first learned about the “strand” genre, I was foolishly convinced by your empty promises of potential and innovation, but I was dead wrong. The audience reception of the films has been abysmal and the box office results have been a nightmare. My films have been critically panned and commercially flopped.

I am beside myself that I was unable to see the glaring shortcomings of the “strand” genre before incorporating it into the Avatar franchise. I can only blame myself for being so naive and trusting your judgement. Your genre not only affected the reputation of the Avatar films but also has been a major reason for the films failure to reach the level of success I aimed for.

Furthermore, I am extremely furious with you for not warning me of the limitations and the potential pitfalls of the “strand” genre. I trusted your judgement and I feel betrayed by you. Your genre has not only affected my career but also my reputation as a filmmaker.

I want to make it clear that I will never, under any circumstances, collaborate with you again in the future. Your “strand” genre has caused irreparable damage to my films and my career, and I will not make the same mistake twice.

You have a lot to answer for, Hideo Kojima, and I hope you take responsibility for the mess you’ve created.

Sincerely,
James Cameron
Film Director.
